Privacy

When you sign in

• Twitch: your account ID, login name, and profile picture. No extra permissions.
• Discord: your account ID, username, and avatar (the “identify” permission). No email.
• Google: read-only YouTube access, used once as you sign in to read your channel's ID, handle, and picture. No email or other Google data, and we don't keep the access itself.

Google and YouTube data

• Blathered uses YouTube API Services: to read your channel when you sign in with Google, and to read public videos and comments for the quote finder. Google's Privacy Policy covers what Google does with your data.
• Blathered's use and transfer of information received from Google APIs to any other app will adhere to the Google API Services User Data Policy, including the Limited Use requirements. We use your channel's ID, handle, and picture only to show who you are here and to mark creators as verified, and we never sell or share them.
• You can remove Blathered's access at any time on Google's security settings page. Deleting your account here deletes what we stored.

When you play

We store your guesses, results, and scores for each puzzle, and when you played. Signed out, they're kept against a random ID in a cookie on your browser; when you sign in, they move to your account.

What others can see

• Your handle, login icon, and picture on leaderboards, and on quotes you suggested that became puzzles.
• Your profile page: your stats in each community, who you follow, and your follower counts. Make it private on your account page and others see only your name.
• Feedback about a community goes to its team, and may be copied to their Discord alerts channel. Takedown requests, with the name and contact in them, are seen only by the platform admins.

Cookies and storage

• session keeps you signed in, for up to 30 days.
• A sign-in check cookie lasts 10 minutes while you sign in.
• anon_id keeps track of your plays while you're signed out, for up to a year.
• Your browser also remembers your light or dark theme, and which how-to-play guides you've seen.

We count visits with Vercel Web Analytics, which doesn't use cookies or follow you across sites, so there's no cookie banner.

Other services

• YouTube plays the clips, in privacy-enhanced mode. YouTube can store data about you once you play one.
• Twitch, Discord, and Google handle sign-in.
• An AI provider reads public video transcripts and comments to suggest quotes to community teams. It never gets player data.
• Communities can post new puzzles and team alerts to their own Discord servers.
• Our hosting provider stores the site and its database.

Deleting your account

Delete your account from your account page. Your follows, notices, and suggestions go with it. Your plays stay in community stats without your name, and quotes you suggested stay up without the credit.

Blathered isn't for children under 13. Questions go through the feedback form.
